The MIL Corporation (MIL) is pleased to announce that we are now a corporate sponsor of the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management (AFERM). AFERM is the only professional association dedicated to the advancement of enterprise risk management (ERM) in the federal government through thought leadership, education, and collaboration. For the past two decades AFERM established themselves as a leader in ERM; a concept that has been maturing in the private sector. Through integrity, professionalism, teamwork and engagement, their vision is to be recognized in the public sector as the authority in promoting the effective application of ERM.

What is ERM and how does it apply to MIL?

ERM is a strategically aligned enterprise-wide portfolio view of an organization’s full range of risks, challenges, and opportunities.  MIL helps clients make risk-based decisions everyday supporting strategy, budget, performance management, and operations. As a corporate sponsor MIL will appear in AFERM’s quarterly newsletter, on the sponsorship page of their website, participates in AFERM-hosted events, and serves as a member of the Corporate & Associate Advisory Group (CAAG). MIL will also be represented at the 2019 AFERM ERM Summit – Next Generation of ERM: What You Need to Know, on October 29th in Washington, D.C.  At their 12th annual ERM summit, attendees can learn the latest techniques and developments in ERM, as well as, network with risk management professionals instrumental in the next generation of ERM.

Prior to our corporate sponsorship, MIL staff have been actively engaged with AFERM. Vice President, Paul Marshall, hosts a weekly podcast for AFERM, called Risk Chats, where he speaks with government Chief Risk Officers and risk management professionals to provide insights into managing effective ERM programs, and to share best practices with the community. The podcast is available as a free resource on AFERM’s website: www.aferm.org/aferm-risk-chats.

AFERM provides its members with a forum for relevant risk management discussion, educational programs, online resources, events, community, and professional development support.  AFERM impacts the federal ERM profession by influencing governmental risk management policies, as well as, serving as an advocate for the practice.

Through collective experiences, education, promotions, and organizational development, MIL looks forward to leveraging our relationship with AFERM and its fellow stakeholders. Partnering with AFERM gives MIL the opportunity to provide our clients with the latest tools, techniques, processes, policies, collaborative environments, and leading practices of federal government ERM.
