The Washington Post Names MIL a 2023 Top Workplace for the D.C. Area
Government Contractor ranks 5th for large company subset
Bowie, Md.—June 20, 2023— The MIL Corporation (MIL) is pleased to announce its recognition as a 2023 Top Workplace by The Washington Post for the Washington, D.C. area. Receiving the 2023 honor marks the seventh year in-a-row for the mid-sized government contractor. This year, MIL ranks 5th in the large company category. Under this ranking, MIL also earned five Culture Awards from Top Workplaces including: Leadership, Innovation, Compensation and Benefits, Purpose and Values, and Work Life Flexibility.
“It is such an honor to have received this year’s designation for the DC area, rounding out our 2023 wins for the Top Workplaces USA and South Carolina awards,” said MIL COO Marisa Daley. “This year we really leaned into highlighting our strengths as a supportive workplace that is ‘more than just a job.’ MIL prides itself on celebrating employee successes and prioritizes our appreciation events. Some of these include an annual family-friendly crab feast and low-country boil, awards ceremonies; tickets to Kings Dominion and Charleston-based events; access to our Capital One Suite; and various volunteer opportunities.”
Selection is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, which measured several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection.
MIL’s employees, who provide innovative cyber, engineering, financial, and information technology services to the federal government, reported that common, admirable qualities found within MIL included: flexibility in the workplace; being at the forefront of technology in their industry; a supportive, diverse environment; work-life balance; and feeling valued with a path for growth.
“(I would recommend working at MIL) because it offers great benefits and salary,” said one respondent. “It cares about its employees and recognizes them through performance awards.”
In another section, an employee commented on the prompt asking what makes MIL a motivating workplace:
“I really value MIL’s culture, values, people, and the nature of the work, all well-ordered to the goal of providing the best possible service and accountability to our customers in their critical responsibilities to our country and world.”
The Washington Post has been awarding local organizations for nearly a decade, aiming to recognize companies that cultivate support, respect, and employee satisfaction. For the 2023 award year, over 6,500 area companies were invited to participate and 541 were surveyed. The top companies were selected based on survey responses from more than 147,000 employees on topics ranging from employee development to innovation.
