MIL Partners with Leadership Southern Maryland
Organization solidifies ties with local, emerging leaders program
Bowie, Md.—Sept. 27, 2021—The MIL Corporation (MIL) is pleased to announce its partnership with Leadership Southern Maryland (LSM). Joining a team of community partners that support current and emerging leaders in the area, MIL is a bronze-level Executive Program sponsor and the sole 2022 Emerging Leaders Program (LEAP) sponsor.
LSM is a nine-month, tuition-based program that educates and inspires a diverse set of leaders who collaborate to support the community needs of Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties in Maryland.
“It’s very important for MIL to support the community we work in,” said MIL EVP, Tom Clark. “LSM gives us an opportunity to do just that. From a corporate perspective, the Emerging Leaders Program allows us to introduce up-and-coming leaders to our tri-county community in ways that we could not do on our own.”
MIL’s support of LSM and LEAP goes beyond its financial sponsorship. The company supports employee participation and continues to send its rising stars through the program, like Brian Spatola, an engineer and SVP, Harvil Jenkins.
“LEAP definitely provided me with a wide-ranging perspective from local leaders,” said Spatola. “It was like an open question and answer forum with tri-county leaders like the sheriffs and county commissioners. Being able to ask them questions about their leadership styles and experiences was invaluable.”
“LSM exposes participants to what the region offers,” stated Jenkins. “Engaging with the county and business leaders while developing relationships with a diverse group people is a big deal and is a unique opportunity facilitated by the LSM Executive Program.”
