MIL President & CEO Nominated for Greater Washington GovCon Executive of the Year
Maurice I. Long, Jr. has been nominated for the 15th annual awards program
BOWIE, Md.—Sept. 18, 2017— The MIL Corporation (MIL) is pleased to share that the Northern Virginia Chapter of Commerce and Professional Services Council has announced MIL President and CEO, Maurice I. Long, Jr. as a finalist for Executive of the Year for the Greater Washington Government Contractor (GovCon) Awards. Chosen as one of seven nominees out of hundreds of applicants, Long’s distinguished leadership record and commitment to community service position him as a top contender.
The GovCon Awards, which is in its 15th year, recognizes government contracting’s most prestigious professionals.
“Mr. Long, who founded our organization, has proven to be a powerful and strategic decision maker, shaping MIL into the company it is today,” said MIL COO Marisa Daley. “MIL started as a very small, fledgling business and thanks to his leadership, we stand at over 700 employees with a reputation for high-quality service and long-lasting business relationships—several that span the lifetime of the 37-year-old company.”
Established in 1980, MIL has developed into a highly competitive mid-sized government contractor, headquartered in the Washington, D.C, area. Once the organization got its footing, Long’s focus shifted to defining the company’s areas of general practice. Using professional connections built over the years at the Departments of Defense and State, Long and a dedicated staff of employees forged ahead to develop into the service areas that stand today: financial management, information technology, engineering, and cybersecurity.
Today, MIL holds 51 federal contracts at 21 different agencies and works from several corporate locations, which include Bowie, Md., Washington, D.C., Lexington Park, Md., Tysons, Va., and Charleston, S.C. MIL’s reputation for long-term customer relationships are a hallmark of its corporate experience.
The winners of the Greater Washington GovCon Awards will be named at a gala dinner, held on Nov. 1 at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, Va.
