MIL will participate as sponsor to session on blending legacy and new financial systems
BOWIE, Md.—July 27, 2012— Government financial management professionals who must face a challenging fiscal environment will now be able to hear about new research and innovations in financial systems, thanks to the 2012 Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Professional Development Conference (PDC). To support the mission of the conference, Training to Solve Today’s Fiscal Challenges, The MIL Corporation (MIL) will exhibit and sponsor a session titled, Making Legacy Systems and New Systems Function.
MIL’s session will explore techniques for bridging the gap between legacy and new financial systems. MIL Vice President, Lloyd Farmer will moderate a discussion to help demonstrate how two federal government agencies successfully connected new and legacy systems to provide cost-predictable, accurate financial data. The session will provide lessons-learned and tactics to help agencies modernize where needed, while maintaining those elements of their systems that can continue to operate properly and cost-effectively.
“Anyone working in financial management knows that today’s economic and technological environment produces a real challenge,” said Farmer. “I am looking forward to sharing our panel’s experiences and hearing others’ perspectives.”
The event, which ultimately seeks to help increase efficiency in government operations, allows participants to learn from experts and gain exposure to the newest management techniques and technological advancements in the government financial realm. This year, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about efforts to reduce improper payments and the newest innovations in financial systems and long-term budget projections—straight from the OMB.
“The AGA PDC offers a tremendous opportunity to personally network with the federal financial management community, pursue new teaming opportunities, and take advantage of the continuing educational opportunities,” added Farmer.
The PDC is presented by AGA, an organization that supports the careers and professional development of government finance professionals. Taking place in San Diego, Calif. at the San Diego Convention Center, the 61st annual event will run from July, 29 – August 1, 2012. If you are interested in attending the session, Making Legacy Systems and New Systems Function, it will take place on Monday, July 30, 2012, at 2:20 p.m. in room 6D.
