Challenge
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) delivers Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) that provides a decisive advantage to warfighters, policymakers, intelligence professionals, and first responders. Both an intelligence agency and combat support agency, NGA fulfills the President’s national security priorities in partnership with the intelligence community and the Department of Defense. NGA is pursuing a military construction project (MILCON) to build a modern facility in the St. Louis metropolitan area to better support its mission to provide timely, relevant, and accurate GEOINT in support of national security. The architectural program includes construction of an 800,000 square foot Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility to include a rated intelligence processing center, central utility plant, visitor control center, remote inspection facility, structured parking with required secure telecommunications, utilities, site improvements, and security systems necessary for a complete usable facility. To accomplish the comprehensive planning, procurement, installation, and integration of the extensive active IT/IM related networks associated with the project, NGA sought out existing government contract mechanisms and support agreements.
Solution
Through a prime support to government sponsors at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), The MIL Corporation (MIL) has developed a proven record for producing on-time, on-budget, high-quality, national awarding-winning IT/IM-related solutions for large MILCON projects that include active networks design (procurement, installation, integration, and testing). NGA accessed MIL’s sophisticated IT/IM support services for their MILCON project by creating a support agreement between NGA and NAWCAD. MIL is now actively engaged with the comprehensive IT systems engineering and integration process of the new NGA active IT/IM related networks. MIL’s support of this $1.75B NGA MILCON project will continue through calendar year 2025, which is the projected move-in date.
Benefit
By accessing MIL’s well-established capability to provide comprehensive IT systems engineering and integration support services for MILCON projects through a government-to-government support agreement with NAWCAD, NGA implemented a process that guarantees their new active IT/IM infrastructure will be technologically advanced, within budget, and delivered on time.
