After nearly a decade of leading the C4IS Sector, Dave Larson will move to part-time role
BOWIE, Md.—Sept. 14, 2015— The MIL Corporation (MIL), a mid-sized government contractor, today announced that Senior Vice President of its Command, Control, Communications & Computers Integrated Solutions (C4IS) Sector, David Larson, will retire from his leadership position in September 2015, after nearly 10 years of service with the company. He will continue to support the team in a part-time capacity moving forward.
In addition to his executive leadership role, Mr. Larson also serves as the Program Manager for MIL’s Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Mission Systems Contract. Mr. Larson and the MIL C4IS team successfully secured this $82.5M follow-on contract in November 2012 and he has since lead its efforts in business development, budgeting, resource management, and deliverables.
“Dave has played an invaluable role for the C4IS team in Lexington Park,” said MIL President Maurice I. Long, Jr. “He’s got over 30 years of experience in this field and was integral in the actual development of the C4IS group. His plans allowed MIL to grow and provide quality engineering and technical services for our NAVAIR customer base. We are grateful that he will continue to lend his expertise in a part-time capacity, as he has been an exceptional partner to me and the rest of the MIL family across the globe.”
Larson joined MIL in June 2006, and as part of the MIL management team, helped develop and execute a start-up plan for the founding of the C4IS group. During this period, he also provided direct technical and engineering program support to several important projects at NAVAIR. Currently, Larson manages all operations for the C4IS sector, which includes budgets, senior level personnel, as well as business and proposal development. His NAVAIR program management duties focus on the Surface and Air Integrated Warfare (SAIW) Division, NAWCAD 4.11.3 and the Special Communications Mission Systems (SCMS) Division, NAWCAD 4.11.4 located on Webster Field in St. Inigoes, Md.
Prior to his career at MIL, Larson was a dedicated professional in the Patuxent River NAVAIR Community in Southern Maryland. For nearly 35 years, he worked for the NAVAIR Warfare Center Aircraft Division in various capacities. Larson began his career in engineering and lifecycle support, quickly climbing the ladder to leadership positions in engineering, technical communications, and ultimately serving as the Director of the NAVAIR Surface Communications and Information Systems Division prior to his retirement.
Given Larson’s dual roles, MIL has assigned C4IS Vice President Tom Clark as his successor in overall operations management of the C4IS Service Sector and Assistant Vice President Harvil Jenkins will assume the role of Program Manager for the Mission Systems contract. Clark also joined MIL in 2006; Jenkins joined in 2008. Both have over two decades of engineering and technical services experience.
“Dave is an outstanding leader and has been an incredible mentor to me,” said Clark. “It has been a pleasure working with him – personally and professionally. He has selflessly shared his vast amount of experience and knowledge with our entire organization and we could not be better prepared for continued success as a result.”
MIL’s C4IS Sector provides project management, engineering, production, integration, fielding, and technical support services for a wide range of C4 communications-electronic systems, subsystems, and equipment. The C4IS sector delivers its charter by integrating these C4 systems for customers of all services of the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, Joint Staff and Combatant Commanders, as well as other federal, state, and local agencies here and abroad.
“It has been a pleasure working for MIL for these past 10 years,” said Larson. “Butch Long is the kind of owner that everyone would be lucky to work for. It was an amazing experience helping to build this team and I know I will take from it great memories. It is always nice to know you are leaving your hard work in great hands; Tom and Harvil already have a dynamic partnership and I have no doubt that they will be leading MIL to continued success in the future.”
