What were you doing before joining MIL?

I started my career as system analyst where I performed software and hardware installations, as well as network and PC trouble shooting. I was also exposed to software development using Java and related technologies. I developed an interest in the software development field and came to the U.S. to pursue my master’s degree in computer science. After completing my studies, I worked as a software developer and developed SOAP-based web services using Java, designed databases, and performed PL/SQL development.

Why did you decide to join MIL?

When looking for additional opportunities to excel in software development field, I came across PL/SQL developer opportunity with MIL. Also, I always wanted to work for federal government, in downtown Washington, D.C., which is an exciting place to live and work. Impressed with MIL’s emphasis on work ethic and culture, I took an opportunity at the company at the International Trade Administration at Department of Commerce.

What are you working on now?

Initially, I was hired as a SharePoint developer working on SharePoint 2010 platform, which was a new technology for me, personally. Having been inspired by the powerful features of SharePoint, I decided to further grow into the SharePoint platform. Recently, I migrated all the content and apps from SharePoint 2010 to the 2013 platform on Amazon Web Services Cloud. Currently, I serve as a lead SharePoint engineer. In this role, I manage all the projects and tasks of the SharePoint team and also perform various tasks like managing farm, service applications, and custom app development. Additionally, I oversee SharePoint operations and maintenance.
