Years with MIL: 4
What were you doing before joining MIL?
I worked for a small government contractor on a Department of Defense contract as a Business Analyst.
Why did you decide to join MIL?
I was in the market for a new opportunity and heard positive things about MIL through a former colleague, so I went on MIL’s website and applied for a position!
What are you working on now?
I am working on development of various financial/business intelligence dashboards for a State Department’s bureau.
What is important about your work?
The dashboards I develop are highly visible to the bureau’s executives as they allow them to quickly identify anomalies, trends, and other key indicators. This enables timely resolution of outstanding issues and increases transparency of the bureau’s financial activities.
What are the best aspects about your current job?
The work I do now allows me to continuously learn new things and grow professionally. My technical skills have grown exponentially in the years that I have been with MIL.
Why do you enjoy working at MIL?
I enjoy working with my talented colleagues who are very easy to work with, and managers who invest in your career and professional development.
What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on at MIL?
One of the most challenging projects I worked on was preparing a presentation for an Executive level State Department client. The work was very highly visible. Luckily, I worked with an excellent team and we were able to successfully complete the task and be recognized by the client.
What is the best piece of career advice you can offer someone in your field who is either applying to or beginning a career at MIL?
My advice would be to take on any opportunities to learn new things and do beyond what is asked. It will pay off!
If applicable, please share a memorable/significant experience that has occurred during your time with MIL.
I have many memorable experiences with MIL, but one of them would the surprise virtual (pandemic) baby shower that the team put together. It was disguised as a meeting and totally unexpected! It was very sweet and thoughtful, and definitely one of the best moments of my pregnancy.
