Rebecca Helms

Employee Development & Engagement Lead

When did you start working at MIL?
August 2015

Describe your career path.
I started out in the Air Force as an Information Management Specialist. I then went on to teach high school English. After that, I transitioned into technical writing, followed by quality assurance/continuous improvement, which eventually led to project management.

Did you further your education or obtain certifications while employed at MIL?
Yes, I used MIL’s educational assistance to help offset the cost of my Doctorate. I’ve also used MILTON to prepare for my PMP certification.

What is one project from the past year that you are most proud of and why?
Right now, I’m leading the team that will develop an automated onboarding dashboard, which will reduce the number of emails stakeholders receive by 95%. It will give everyone involved a one-stop shop for our MIL onboarding process.

What do you love about your current position, and/or overall career at MIL? I have always been passionate about teaching and training, and I love getting other people engaged and excited about it too. This new position puts me right in the middle of that environment and opportunity!
