What are you working on now?

Back in February, my team published many Project Management process changes as a direct result of the feedback received from the CMMI Assessors. Internationally recognized, CMMI is considered the foremost standard in providing a framework for creating and improving system development, integration and service delivery processes.  I conducted training for individuals in Charleston, D.C., and Bangkok to review these significant updates, all in preparation for the upcoming Department of State (DoS), CMMI for Services Maturity Level 2 assessment.

What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on at MIL?

Our reporting procedures are especially challenging and demanding, as we must ensure everything is accounted for accurately. Every month, I prepare numerous monthly initiative reports and review each of them with our project managers to ensure I have captured the data in an accurate format.  The reports then undergo numerous reviews for accuracy.

What is a memorable experience you have had since working with MIL?

My advancement within this organization has been a wonderful experience. In my four-and-a-half years with MIL, I have transitioned from an entry-level analyst into a GFAA Team Lead and Process Area Team Lead of the project management process.  I believe this advancement shows how much I’ve grown professionally since coming onboard and is a true testament to the relationship I have built with the client. On a day-to-day basis, I thoroughly enjoy having the opportunity to exhibit my strong written skills and attention to detail on a multitude of projects.

What is the best piece of career advice you can offer someone in your field who is either applying to or beginning a career at MIL?

Never become so content that you stop reaching for the next goal — so much of your career is pushing yourself into taking the next step.
