Why did you decide to join MIL?

I was referred to MIL in 2010 through a mutual friend. My friend told me about MIL being an up-and-coming company in the area. MIL had a few entry level positions open, and there was plenty of room for career advancement.

What are you working on now?

I am currently working on a network monitoring video wall installation in Florida. I am also designing an Audio-Visual system from a conference room in California. The Audio-Visual system with be capable of Video Teleconferencing on several networks.

What is important about your work?

I support the SCMS division of NAVAIR. We provide communication support for several government agencies, as well as the military, all over the world.

What are the best aspects of your current job?

I have the opportunity to travel parts of the world I would have never traveled on my own time. In addition, the best aspects would also include the challenge of going to a work-site and having to troubleshoot an AV system for our customers.

Why do you enjoy working at MIL?

I enjoy the environment and the people here. The management does a great job rewarding employees and doing team activities, such as a Chili Cook-Off, Capital One Arena tickets, etc.

What is the most challenging project you have worked on at MIL?

While in South Korea, we installed a video wall on an Ops Floor with all the equipment in a remote server room. There were a lot of equipment issues the team had to overcome. We were asked last minute to help with the installation and troubleshooting, so we encountered a few interesting problems through the way.

What is the best piece of career advice you can offer to someone who is in your career field who is either applying to, or beginning their career?

My advice is to be open to travel and keep up with industry training.  The last thing you want to do is to lose track of current trends in technology.
