Years with MIL: 9

What were you doing before joining MIL?

I was working with Momentum ERP software at a mid-sized government contractor.

Why did you decide to join MIL?

I was referred to MIL by an old friend and colleague.

What are you working on now?

I am performing IV&V testing on performance budgeting tool “IBIS”. This tool is a Budget Planning and Programming tool used by the Department of State, it feeds into the Momentum/GFMS software.

What is important about your work?

The Department of State has agencies all around the world who rely on performance budgeting to provide accurate financial information for their financial operations and resources. Therefore, it is important that we perform our IV&V duties to the best of our ability.

What are the best aspects about your current job?

I am the team lead with seven great team members. We work well together and have a positive atmosphere.

Why do you enjoy working at MIL?

I enjoy working at MIL because I have always felt supported and valued by people I have worked with company-wide. MIL has always provided me with an opportunity to grow and further my career.

What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on at MIL?

The most challenging project I’ve worked on at MIL was the “7.7B: Post, Plan, and Review” IBIS release. This software release included two interfaces with two different software programs (WebRABIT and GBI). The release had a lot of moving parts and a hard deadline.

What is the best piece of career advice you can offer someone in your field who is either applying to or beginning a career at MIL?

The best piece of career advice I can offer to someone applying to MIL would be to use the resources provided by MIL and do not be shy asking for help from managers/team members. The people at MIL are very patient/supportive and want you to succeed.

If applicable, please share a memorable/significant experience that has occurred during your time with MIL.

I enjoyed the holiday party held at the MGM National Harbor. My team and I all attended and had a great time! It was fun to see all of our coworkers outside of the office in a social setting.
