Sonya Holland
Vice President
I started with MIL in January of 2004 as a Senior Systems Analyst. I progressed through our career track from Sr. Systems Analyst to Team Lead to Manager to Sr. Manager to AVP, then Sr. Asst. VP and now VP.
What is one professional highlight that stands out during your career at MIL?
A personal highlight was passing the Project Management Professional exam. A team highlight was in December 2010. FAA was scheduled to transition from the Axios assyst help desk ticket tracking system to BMC’s Remedy IT Service Management software. A severe winter storm with several feet of snow had been forecasted for the go-live weekend. I worked with the other manager to plan for the entire conversion team to remain in the Rosslyn area for 2 days to complete the task. We stayed in local hotels, ate lots of pizza, and braved the blizzard of the DC area but, the client was able to go-live as planned! The team received kudos from the Office of Financial Management Director. This was an excellent example of teamwork and dedication.
What is one project from the past year that you are most proud of?
I’ve been with the same client for the last 14 years. Last year, we were able to implement the FAA’s Office of Financial Management first robotic process automation. The manual PRISM Recertification process was converted into an automated process. The “Bot” was created to conduct three individual processes involved in PRISM Recertification. All automations created with UiPath Studio mimic the exact steps that a human would perform to accomplish the same task. To retrieve verification information and recertify, the Bot exchanges information between Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse, the AIT Enterprise Data Repository, and FAA Microsoft Office 365 SharePoint and Outlook.
What do you love about your current position, and/or overall career at MIL?
Throughout my career at MIL, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the lasting relationships with other employees, clients, and managers. I’ve found that the company cares about me as a person. I also enjoy the flexibility and the work-life balance.
