Help Desk Support V
Years with MIL: 1
What were you doing before joining MIL?
Before joining MIL, I was an IT Help Desk Specialist at AFTAC, Patrick AFB, FL after serving over 7 years as a Client Systems Technician in the Air Force. I was stationed in South Korea and Florida during that time, supporting many different organizations and broadening my IT knowledge and career.
Why did you decide to join MIL?
I wanted a change in my current life and career. I needed to join a company that actually made it possible to take new opportunities, allowed flexibility and showed understanding to their employees. Also, the mission MIL is supporting here at Cape Canaveral is really something unique to be a part of.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on getting our organization’s IT Comms up and running, establishing policies and creating/molding a new IT Service Desk for ICO.
What is important about your work?
Without IT, our customers could not be able to do their job and rely on us to achieve their goals and missions.
What are the best aspects about your current job?
The best aspects about my current job are the people I work with on a daily basis and the amount of knowledge I continue to gain from them. Everyone is very respectful of each other’s past experiences, allowing a steady flow of innovation and creativity.
Why do you enjoy working at MIL?
I enjoy this role for the positivity and change I have seen since joining the company.
What is the most challenging project you’ve worked on at MIL?
The most challenging project has been my current one of getting an entire building’s communications up and running in an expedited time frame.
What is the best piece of career advice you can offer someone in your field who is either applying to or beginning a career at MIL?
Take the job and allow it to change and evolve from what you expected, nothing ever stays the same, especially in the government roles, so the best way to move forward in it is to let it take you and grow with you. You’ll never be disappointed with yourself or with your job if you keep that mentality and stay positive about whatever happens.
If applicable, please share a memorable/significant experience that has occurred during your time with MIL.
Meeting my teammates here locally has been the most significant experience. They are all extremely knowledgeable in their fields and truly great people to work with and be around.
