Carolina Gil Ochoa

RPA Manager

Describe your career path.
In August of 2021, I started working as a Business Analyst for the RPA Team at the Diplomatic Security CFO’s Office. The RPA Program was just getting started and I helped with its full implementation.  As time went by and the program started to grow, I was able to grasp new skills to navigate RPA in the government world.  I was then promoted to Team Lead. Recently, I also collaborated with the startup of a new RPA Team at the USCG in Norfolk, VA and I am actively looking for opportunities to expand MIL’s RPA footprint whenever possible.  This trajectory landed me in my RPA Manager position.  My career path has always directed me towards pioneering, taking new initiatives, and improving processes in general.

Did you further your education or obtain certifications while employed at MIL?
I am currently investing in learning more about Generative AI and using MILTON as a complement to expand my knowledge in some of the latest AI related topics.  I am also currently taking a certification to become a Neurolinguistic Programming Coach as part of my curiosity to understand processes and help others inside and outside the business.

What is one project from the past year that you are most proud of?
The Travel Bot.  It is an automation that has proven to be very helpful for the Financial Execution Division and that was awarded by the DS Assistant Secretary.

What is one piece of career advice you would give a recent college graduate?
Stay humble, work hard on learning the field you are in, not shooting for a high position at first, but to get all the knowledge and experience you can get.  That is where the real value is, and that is what will take you far later down the road.

What do you love about your current position, and/or overall career at MIL?
I love the opportunity to innovate, make people’s jobs easier and get to have an insight into lots of different processes and different ways to conduct business tasks.
