Marcus Hamman

Senior Systems Applications Specialist

Years with MIL: 8

Why do you enjoy working at MIL?

I have always had good experiences with both management and my team. I appreciate that I feel like part of the team, since I am the only one on my team working in Oklahoma City while they are on-site in Washington D.C. MIL’s efforts to include me in as much as possible is appreciated.

What is the best piece of career advice you can offer someone in your field who is either apply to, or beginning a career at MIL?

The biggest career advice I can offer someone in my field is to constantly grow. The business environment is always changing, and you should be changing with it or ahead of it (preferably). Your growth and ability to learn should not stop when you get out of school.

What is the best aspects of your current job?

I love the dynamic nature of my job. I can work on a help desk ticket with a DELPHI user while also logging a work ticket with Oracle support to resolve a system issue.  I also work on improving systems and processes. Typically, I work on a variety of tasks simultaneously and each day brings something new.

What were you doing before joining MIL?

Prior to joining MIL, I handled consulting work for system implementation and operation of Oracle Federal Financial. Prior to that, I worked as a Systems Accountant at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center on a team that implemented the DOT DELPHI accounting system.
